The History of Me

Hello. I’m Nikki.  I have been around these here parts since July of 2011. Before that? I’ve been all over. I’m kind of a domain-registering whore. It all started with online journaling on pages like gurlpages.com. Then, I started blogging on an actual domain in 2000 with my best friend, Erika, at a website called sardonicbitch.net. I am  not even sure the word “blog” existed back then, or where it came from. After that we opened up pimptress.com and had a flourishing message board community of about…well, 100. That kind of fizzled out and I started journaling again at vox.com, which later closed, and I’ve been displaced ever since. Well, until 2009… I opened up http://ohhellobaby.com, a multi-user blog and then subsequently http://www.justsupermom.com which is now closed. See? I’ve been around.

Now, about that JustSupermom thing… wow did that ever get people worked up. For some reason, some moms really are offended by other moms calling themselves “supermom”. But really, in my opinion, we are all super moms, and I chose the domain as a tongue-in-cheek name for myself. I wasn’t even a mom yet… I was pregnant with my first son, Quinn, so I didn’t even know how super of a mom I’d be anyway!

And now here I am! In January of 2011 when my son Quinn was 8 months old, I found out I was pregnant again! Anyone who tells you that breastfeeding works as birth control…is wrong. Once I found out baby #2′s gender, I decided it was time for a fresh start. That is how One Mom, Two Boys was born. Will we have more kids? Only time will tell…but one thing is for sure, I made a resolution to NOT be pregnant in 2012. So I have some time.

Now for my personal life… I’m 29, I live in Wisconsin, but grew up in Pennsylvania. I met my now-husband in 2005; we shacked up, got married (he bought the cow!), had two pregnancy losses, and then two successful pregnancies who have become the joy in our life. Quinn was born May 15th, 2010 and Gavin was born October 7th, 2011. So yes, my boys are just under 17 months apart in age. Is it hard? At times, yes. That is why there sometimes are long stretches of time in between posts. Is it fun? Heck yes! And rewarding. And amazing.

I love being a mom. Who ever thought that this Pimptress would turn into this? Love, love, love.
